Drop Discipline

Post by Fox Parker »

Drop Discipline
When in a serious drop, you are expected to follow your drop leader's orders.
  • You only follow the drop leader's orders. Orders, comments, or suggestions from other members of the drop should be ignored unless the drop leader concurs or gives the same order.
  • You may make a suggestion once. If the drop leader does not repeat it, it is not an order and will not be followed. You will not argue the point and will not repeat the suggestion.
    • An example of an exception here is if a target with ECM that is problematic appears, you call it, but the drop leader doesn't concur. You may call for this same target again if the situation changes, or the target is an immediate threat to the success of the drop (not just a threat to your 'Mech alone)
  • You do not discuss your disagreement with a drop leader's orders when they are given. Even if you think the order will lose the match or get you killed, save it until after the match is ended. At which point you can discuss what went wrong. Keep it short and polite, then get on to your next drop.
You must maintain comms discipline.
  • You are not to chat during a drop.
  • You are only to use the comms to relay information important to the members of the drop. Examples are an enemy flanking from behind, the locations of targets or a location on an enemy becoming vulnerable.
Keep track of your Lance or Company.
  • You are not to get extended and separated away from your Lance or Company unless you were ordered to move ahead by the drop leader. Your minimap is just as important as the rear view mirror on your car. Use it to keep track of your drop mates.
  • You have a throttle. Run at lower throttle levels to keep from outrunning slower lance mates. If you insist on using Throttle Decay, you can use your NumPad to set throttle in 10% increments. 0 is 100%, 9 is 90%, etc.
When a target is called, you attack it. You don't choose another target of your own.
  • If there is an enemy in your way to the called target you may fire on it while moving to the designated target.
  • Related to comms discipline, we don't want to hear excuses why you are going after a different target.
  • We use targets designated per the NATO standard. View the list here.
